More Purchasing Exhortations

Not everything I post will be about consumerism, but I did want to let everyone in on a site called The Green Apple which is currently listing over 200 "organic, natural and eco-friendly" companies that are offering discounts and coupons available to everyone. These run the gamut from clothing to books and magazines to food to spas and more. The focus is on New York City, but many of the discounts are for online shopping and can be used anywhere (10% of at Powell's Books for instance). Of course there is a catch in that you have to buy the coupon book for $20 in order to receive the discounts, but if you use them no doubt you'll get that money back fairly quickly.

not to be so cynical, but this seems too much like those dumb entertainment books you had to sell in grade school. you'd buy a fat coupon book for $25 with the promise of saving 4x as much only you had to use the coupons between 3:30 and 4AM on alternating odd numbered wednesdays. yeah, the discounst are availale to everyone...with $20.

i'll let you know how it looks, but in this case they're trying to "dispel the notion that living an organic, natural and eco-friendly lifestyle is not affordable". this isn't $5 off a lube job - take a look at what's being offered in the "Spas" section. i think it's pretty much on the up and up. hell, it's worth it just for the "$25 off your first Zipcar rental".
